We have exciting news to share with you today!
Social Venture Partners Cincinnati (SVP) announced that Strategies to End Homelessness has been selected as its next long-term Investee following the completion of the LIFT Phase of its Project XLR8 Program.
“Our mission at SVP Cincinnati is to support new and innovative ideas to help solve problems faced by our community. The solution to preventing homelessness offered by Strategies to End Homelessness is a breakthrough opportunity that helps at-risk families. This work has tremendous potential, not only in Cincinnati, but in communities beyond,” said Susan Ingmire, SVP Chair.
Strategies to End Homelessness was one of eight nonprofits that participated in SVP’s five-month Project XLR8 Program, which focuses on driving social innovation and equity in Greater Cincinnati.
SVP will support our Housing Stability Collaborative Initiative that uses large data sets and predictive data analytics to identify families in the initial stages of a housing crisis and offers prevention services to resolve their situation.
Kevin Finn, President and CEO of Strategies to End Homelessness stated that, “The coaching provided by SVP members has been game-changing for us. SVP has already helped us anticipate and identify issues we would not have identified for some time.”
“I’m confident that, by working with SVP over the next few years, we will innovate and change how homelessness is addressed not just in Greater Cincinnati, but in homeless services systems around the country.”
“The Project XLR8 process has been particularly insightful in helping us articulate the impact we are having locally, in a way that allows us to more easily share our innovative solutions within our community and with other communities that can benefit from them,” said Tom Bosse, Strategies to End Homelessness Board Chair.
As SVP’s long-term REALIZE Phase Investee, Strategies to End Homelessness will receive up to $20,000 in funding annually for the next three years. In this phase, dedicated volunteer teams from SVP will assist with defining their product and creating a market strategy so they can expand to other cities.
Project XLR8 is a five-month program with three phases: EXPLORE, LIFT, and REALIZE. During the LIFT Phase, SVP Partners provided hands-on coaching, training, and collaboration in critical business areas. The LIFT Phase concluded with an Idea Exposition Event held May 12, where SVP Partners selected one idea for a sustained, multi-year community investment. This year’s other LIFT Phase participants and their proposed projects were:
Breakthrough Cincinnati and their College Bound Expansion program which provides year-round academic enrichment programs for high potential students who are underrepresented in college.
Building Beyond Bars and their six trauma-informed programs which provide tutoring, mentoring and college readiness for children who have experienced the incarceration of a parent.
Public Allies Cincinnati – AmeriCorps – About Us – Everyone Leads and their Building the Young Leaders of Tomorrow initiative which supports 18- to 30-year-olds in an immersive, 10-month, full-time, paid on-the-job training and leadership development program.
Ingmire also reflected on the Project XLR8 Program overall: “Completing our fifth year, Project XLR8 continues to exemplify the power of engaged philanthropy, attracting and cultivating high-quality, innovative nonprofits poised for significant impact. All the organizations in this cohort demonstrated exceptional vision and dedication in the collaboration with our Partners.”
Social Venture Partners is Greater Cincinnati’s home for engaged philanthropists. Since 2007, SVP has been the only local funder that goes beyond giving money alone, pairing grant-making with hands-on, in-depth coaching, training and guidance from Partners to nonprofits that want to help people reach their full potential. Their purpose is simple: to enable Investees to make our region a stronger and more vibrant community.
