Scott Knox has a Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati Medical College, as well as a law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He practices mainly in the areas of GLBTQ legal issues, estate planning and administration, and Social Security Disability/SSI benefits, and has argued successfully at the Ohio Supreme Court. He is currently on the board of Strategies to End Homelessness and Equality Cincinnati, and was on the Citizens Complaint Authority Board, set up under Cincinnati’s Collaborative Agreement to investigate complaints of police misconduct, from 1/2011 – 6/2016, ending as Chair.

Among other recognitions, Scott has received the Community Service Award from the Cincinnati Bar Association; the Caracole, Inc. Living Award for work done towards Caracole’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing and supportive services for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS; and the Dr. Peter T. Frame Humanitarian Award from the Cincinnati Health Network for pro bono legal work for people with physical and mental challenges. He was named one of Lawyers Weekly U.S.A.’s ten national Attorneys of the Year for 2002 and was Cincinnati CityBeat magazine’s Best Lawyer for 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016. He received the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyer of the Year award and the Potter Stewart Inn of Court Andrew Dennison Courageous Advocate Award for the attorney “who upholds the professional obligation to represent the poor, the unpopular or the friendless”.
