Each year more than 100 congregations provide shelter and housing to families in need through the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati. They are represented by Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Unitarian faith. All dedicated toward the same mission: coordinating shelter and services to families in need. Therefore, we are proud to spotlight this interconnected group of volunteers, clergy members, and laypeople as one of our partner agencies.
The mission of Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHNGC) is to provide homeless families emergency shelter and hospitality through interfaith communities. And to work with families to find and retain stable housing. IHNGC has been providing emergency shelter since 1991, working side by side with partners from the faith community to meet basic needs. While offering professional wraparound services that change lives. In addition to shelter, they provide a full complement of ongoing housing supports and programs that keep families safe, warm, and together.
Programs provided by Interfaith Hospitality Network
IHNGC prevents homelessness, assists those who have become homeless, and solves homelessness for those without shelter. They recognize that families who have become homeless often leave their last housing units with little to nothing with them. Therefore, IHNGC provides Greater Cincinnati with a wide array of services, including:
- Shelter Diversion
- Emergency Shelter
- Child Enrichment
- Pet Support
- Aftercare
- Rapid Rehousing
- Permanent Supportive Housing

Interfaith Hospitality Network has several opportunities for volunteers, as well as opportunities for faith-based organizations.
Volunteer opportunities include looking after children while parents are working. Likewise, other tasks include helping with administrative tasks for IHNGC, and making and serving evening meals. Check out their volunteer page for more information.
Finally, organizations can help end homelessness in Greater Cincinnati by becoming a Host Congregation. Host Congregations provide lodging, meals and volunteer helpers for up to four 4-person families at a time. Host congregations play an integral role in returning families to normalcy after experiencing homelessness. Check out this handy FAQ on becoming a Host Congregation for more info.
